ESMA published its Final Report on the simplification of transaction reporting (EMIR, MiFIR and SFTR) on 2 July 2026. As expected, and in line with its previous interim reports, ESMA’s proposed approach is to move towards a single reporting framework (“Report Once”) covering MiFIR, EMIR and SFTR. The objective is laudable and should ultimately deliver significant burden reductions. However, even under the most optimistic scenario, implementation remains five years away… In the meantime, the report includes a number of short, medium-term reporting relief measures, although these appear relatively modest in scope, such as the extension of delegated reporting to all NFCs and the simplification of the intragroup exemption process. Consequently, market participants will continue to live with the current reporting landscape, including its duplicative requirements, operational complexity and compliance costs, for many years to come. If you are also suffering from this complexity, please comment and share your thoughts!
<thumbnail_url>https://fintex.ch/wp1//home/clients/e31005f27d09b0c1b099017aa5f43223/web/wp1/wp-content/uploads//ESMA_20260914.jpeg</thumbnail_url><thumbnail_width>1536</thumbnail_width><thumbnail_height>1024</thumbnail_height></oembed>
